Good question. I'm sure it has; that was the original declared aim. The annual return to HMRC – which must show the figure – is compiled to year-end 31 May, even though submission may be later. Hopefully the figure isn't commercially sensitive / confidential, and hence can be shared by the BOD on here. It was 1165 at year-end in 2018, a net increase of 69 in the first year of equality. I'm sure the same 'local' issue has arisen here too. The announcements on the Club's site imply that Lewes players must be Welsh... Does anyone know how many BAME players are in the squad at our inclusive Club? Cheers for the reply.

We now have over 1,500 owners including life owners. I believe the figure we quote in the annual returns excludes them as they don’t contribute revenue on an annual basis.
In terms of BAME, I have no idea. Probably not the best time of the year to measure that with the squads in flux. The club employ players based on ability and potential irrespective of race, religion or sexual orientation. Be interested to understand why you think that is otherwise

That sounds like a healthy increase, which is good news. It's about 100 Life Owners, isn't it?
I didn't question whether our inclusive Club recruits in a biased way. And I certainly didn't claim it did. But I'm sure I'm not alone in seeing a few references recently to women's football not reflecting a similar BAME balance to that seen in men's football or indeed society as a whole, for whatever reason. Then Cokcney Exile makes reference to the fact that Spurs' squad has begun changing. I don't know what the typical balance is at Lewes (which is why I asked), nor at the various levels regionally and nationally. The imbalance at management level is very well known, of course...

It’s hard to compare the two squads as I’ve said before. The local pool of players for the respective areas is so different. Now that we are staring to see more local women’s teams starting to rise through the ranks (Saltdean, Worthing, Crawley Down) plus academies for girls, and of course the interest generated by the World Cup and the Euro Championships to be held in England in 2 years then the number of young players should massively increase and that will hopefully be reflected across all communities

things are very much slanted in favour of the womens team ..of course it will be denied by certain individuals but the facts are there for all who can be bothered to look in an UNBIASED way....and do consider IF it is true would those responsible admit to it

Welcome, rookery. Out of interest, have you been lurking on here for a while before making your first post? Or have you just googled and found this merry place of polite debate?

I’m completely lost by this thread. As always, I’m happy to respond to whatever questions there are but can’t read minds, although I’m working on it.

hi all ive been following the threads on here for a while that coupled with my own perceptions of whats going on is the reason I posted what I have...some have been banging the drum about equality which is fine so long as its a level playing field across the board which isn't the case the way things currently are..its all very well talking about equality BUT surely it MUST be seen to be done and not merely talked about in order to silence the natives...this issue must not be swept under the carpet hoping it will go away

I think that those of us on here who have questions to ask should do as I do and attend the AGM and pose those questions to the board. It is important to hold them to account as they are running the club on our behalf. It can be daunting but if you prepare the questions you would like answered beforehand it's really just reading aloud. I'm not always happy with the answers I get (I find Charlie in particular can be rather evasive - he should be a politician) but generally I leave with a better understanding of the issues and always appreciate that I have the chance to ask. Stuart is brilliant on here and answers as frankly as he can but really the AGM is the place for this. Come along - you might enjoy it.
