We are clearly greatly suffering from the loss of Jonte and injuries to other key players. Defense still very solid but the cutting edge up front has been blunted. As someone else said, Daz has effectively had to rebuild the squad mid-season and deserves credit for being able to bring some new players in. Whilst its likely things will fizzle out a bit while the team gels again, there is still hope for the playoffs. Need three points on Saturday though for sure.
As for the free entry to public sector workers, I can say for certain it has drummed up a bit of interest and I know three people who will be attending with their kids for the first time

It was quite simply a very drab game. Tonbridge created far more chances than we did, albeit that most went straight at Carey (other than the fantastic save that he made very early on). As for the penalty, for goodness sake put your foot through the ball!! We created very few chances, and you have to take the gilt-edged ones. If we had lost last night, I don't think I could have complained. I accept that we have lost key players, but to me it seems something more and I can't quite put my finger on it!
As for the public sector freebie on Saturday, I cannot say that I agree with this. What constitutes a public sector worker? A nurse is a public sector worker, but the Managing Director of the hospital trust that the nurse works for is also a public sector worker, so both get let in for free? I mean, the wage gap between the public and private sectors has shrunk beyond belief over the past 20 or so years, so what has driven this? I've got to say that I heard a lot more negative comments about this last night than positive ones. I'll still be there Saturday but I understand the reactions and in hindsight I think this one needed a bit more thought .....

I think a point was fair enough last night,as for the new players they have to be given time to settle in but time is running out although still a lot of points to play for.The third sub for us was it Oli adeyemo wasnt on long not enough to make an impression but in his short time on he did win the ball in the air every time maybe good to see him start. As for the floodlights their has been some lights off for nearly the whole season and I think that’s rubbish saying you haven’t had a chance to get a cherrpicker on the pitch for the whole season there has been many dry weeks since August to do the work. The only opportunity we have to get machinery on the pitch without damaging it is at the end of the season - that’s the advice we have received but if anyone else out there know better please come and have a chat with us. We can live with one or two individual bulbs out.

I thought Carey made 2 fantastic saves early on, I think we did ok against a good side, I thought their keepers positioning was exceptional and made it look that our shots at goal were always straight at him. I have no problem with public sector workers getting in free for one game, some promotions do work, let see, good choice of game too. Would love to see ground full of NHS staff soldiers Dustman etc as long as I dont have to wait too long at the bar.I do get believers point that it applies to some people who earn lots but so what if they go to the bar and buy food thats money we would not have. might even pick up a new regular or too. Tough game they are playing well now.

"To do any work on them involves hiring a cherry picker and driving it onto the pitch which would damage the grass significantly at the moment. There’s no further midweek games under lights so it is something that will be addressed in the early summer".
Can we assume that a cherry picker cannot access lights from the concrete walkway in front of main stand?
Are there no DS or under 18 games scheduled requiring floodlights? From a first team perspective let's hope no Saturday games get postponed

This was a decent result against a good team in form. All of the top teams in this league have had periods of bad form, just as we are now. A couple of wins would see us right back in contention, a couple of losses will probably mean we finish the season where most of us expected we'd be.
can't believe anyone's writing off the new players after a couple of games. I thought both showed some promise and having a right back who is fast and direct going forward can't be a bad thing.
One thing i would like to improve is Omar's goalscoring. He's a very decent player but he needs to be getting more goals for us.
And as for Saturday's public sector promotion,I feel very proud that we're doing it. It's a generous gesture, costs us nothing and may very well bring in a few new regulars.
Perhaps a bit more positivity and generosity all round wouldn't go amiss? There's plenty of things to be miserable about at the moment but Lewes Fc really isn't one of them.

OK... 1. Floodlights 2. The game 3. Saturday’s game - This is where the club can’t win. 1. Ta 2. Yep - fair enough 3. They could win by not having divisive freebie-promotions - unless there's some obligation to have these. I'm already shouting at the tellybox when someone's bleating about the hardships of being a public sector worker, when to me they seem relatively mollycoddled. I value people who keep me safe, or fix me when I'm unwell - but I also value the bloke who sorts out my broken boiler on a cold winter's day, or the guy who clears a messy blockage in my pipes (whether it's my plumber or my surgeon), or someone who repairs the roof over my head. We're all in it together - and we all play our part. So I'm going to skip Saturday - unless a good reason is given for the promotion (maybe it's the centenary of public sector workers getting the vote) - or there's a promise that there'll be a game soon where everyone but public sector workers get in free (otherwise we're an equality club where some are more equal than others). It may bring in some new punters - but so would free-for-all.

Equality FC Stuart. In my opinion either all pay or none pay. Will probably go to the local derby - Hastings v Haywards Heath. Join me and stand up for those who pay every time they come to a game. While I agree with you on the equality thing (I have no idea why the club feel the need to let public sector workers in for free?) I'm not so sure that protesting by giving your hard earned money to one of our rivals who has actually run similar free admission schemes themselves is really the right way to do it. It is not Darren or the team's fault the board has made such a contradicting decision that actually we are not all equal. Come along to the game, cheer on the lads and make your opinion heard to those who decided it was a good idea.

What constitutes a public sector worker? A nurse is a public sector worker, but the Managing Director of the hospital trust that the nurse works for is also a public sector worker, so both get let in for free? This is a fair point, but the same principle applies to all concessions. Some seniors will be extremely wealthy and not in need of a discount. Some students do not need a discount - ten years ago I was doing a part time masters while earning a full-time wage and was able to benefit from student discounts I did not need at Lewes FC and many other places. The only solution would be to means test everyone which is ridiculous. Its just one game and should bring in some new punters who may well return so is a reasonable marketing activity. As mentioned above, I know three people who are all coming, with their young children, to see what it's like. They've all said if the kids like it and don't get bored by half time they will return. They didn't want to take the risk of paying whilst thinking that might happen

I'm sorry we are getting ourselves in a tizz over the public sector worker concession. I can understand some fans feeling that it's unfair and even that they might vote with their feet this week, but actively encouraging others to stay away crosses a line for me. At best the community club vibe is being promoted and it may attract some new fans; at worst the board have misjudged how it would go down with the fans and could do well to remember we're a community owned club and fans could be consulted about this sort of initiative (eg at the AGM or a fans' forum) . However we can be 100% sure that nobody on the board is personally getting a financial kick from this so for me, it is not the sort of thing to get too up in arms about.
I also think that some of the comments about the game last night show unrealistic expectations of a team that has been decimated by injuries and by circumstances beyond the club's control (Jonte). Credit where credit's due, Darren and his team have done their best to keep going and I don't think our performance deserves the rubbishing that some have dished up...far from it in fact. We could yet end up in the play offs but at the start of the season many of us would have been happy to have a mid-table finish. Darren's social media comments show the level of frustration that he is feeling, sadly.

Does the club have a definitive list of Public Sector jobs? What happens if I turn up on Saturday and say I work for The Diplomatic Service or the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, GCHQ, MI5, MI6, Bank of England, British Museum, FCA, HM Treasury, Atomic Weapons Establishment, Export Credit Guarantee Department, High Court Judge. Etc etc Looking forward to seeing who I find myself sitting next to 😉.

We can live with one or two individual bulbs out. One or two? More like half a dozen or more. I suspect that if we had progressed to the 1st round proper of the FA cup and got a home tie against a League One club and the BBC wanted to show it, the cherry pickers would have been on the pitch in a flash. The two towers at the SE corner of the ground have been down to one working light for some time. I'm pretty certain that some lights were out at the end of last season. Why weren't they fixed in the summer? The fact that Roger doesn't want cherry pickers on the pitch isn't the same as cherry pickers can't go on the pitch. It must be preferable to a game being called off. It's been so dry lately that Ashdown Forest caught fire this week! Changing the subject - it amazes me that our nets pass inspection each match.

It’s not for me to enter into a debate on what is a fans forum but I can assure you that the offer of free admission to public sector workers was absolutely aimed at making a generous offer to those in our society and community that help the most vulnerable and in need. The emergency services, nurses, social carers, those working in older people’s homes and caring for the elderly, those working in temporary and emergency accommodation and with the homeless, mental health workers and those working with children in need and in poverty. Yes, plumbers et al do a great job but there are those in society and our own community with much more severe need than a broken boiler as much of a pain as that is.
As a poster here pointed out, it would be nonsensical to means-test those coming through the gate and it is entirely possible that a hospital chief executive or A N Other paid circa £200k could come in for free. Do I think that is likely? No. Their income is sufficient enough that it’s unlikely £12 would have ever have been a barrier. Do I think it is likely that those the offer is intended toward will be grateful? A resounding yes.
On a separate issue, the Brinkhurst family will be fundraising at the game for the Sussex Heart Charity. I do hope that those attending will be able to give as much as they can to a great cause.

This free admission for Saturdays game for people of a certain type of employment. Is this a joint venture with Whitehawk, their sponsors and their ultras? Sounds like sort of stunt they would come up with, but by teaming up at Lewes they get a bigger audience for how great as humans they are. I get annoyed when season ticket holders of football league teams get cheaper entry than some mug who will traipse to Chatham on a Tuesday night in very strong rain.
