It's no secret that player budgets are going to be significantly lower in the coming season than they have been for a while. How much lower is anyone's guess unless the board decides to share this information with the owners at some point.
However directors donations have been running at weḷl in excess of half a million for the last couple of seasons and we have been told this is not going to be repeated. Add in the loss of income from the women no longer being in the championship, we could be looking at a drop in total club income of anything from 25 to 50%.
It will be very interesting to see how much this impacts the performance on and off the pitch next season. However one thing is certain, we are going to be operating in a very different financial landscape.

If that is the case why are we appointing a full time Women’s team Manager? Why does the Club need a full time Manager anyway. Seems bonkers to me

For the first time in over 15 years as a season ticket holders and over 25 as supporter am thinking of not renewing. Nothing to do with money as retired its dirt cheap. But, I wonder what is going on with Rooks as a football club. Everyone says wonderful things about us and the ground and atmosphere is great. But it seems a mess. I must confess no interest in the women's side. But that's because its like 2 clubs which at this level is weird. You can never guarantee success but we should be in a better position with our support. The model of two squads on equal pay is not working.

I think there are many long term spectators thinking exactly the same as Tressell and Krook, me included. The club seems about as far removed from being a club for the ‘local’ community as it has ever been. It seems to me that the emphasis recently has been on the success of women’s team at all costs. I yearn for the return of a ‘normal’ local non league team to support with at least a few local players in the team ,whilst allowing a chance for a proactive youth set up to provide a stream of players for the future. Other Sussex based teams seem to manage it quite well without the obsession of gaining endless media coverage.

It's looked from the outside – to me at least – that any dissent towards the money-boys' big idea just wasn't tolerated, with the result that the club became a self-mutating self-perpetuating cult that attracted distant un-connected directors with little interest in rolling up their sleeves to run a non-league football club in a sustainable way. I sense we are yet to fully discover just what scale of a mess they've left behind. I hope not, but I'm not confident.

How does any of this stop any of you just going and enjoying the football though? Seems odd to give up supporting a club because of things you can ignore on match days

The club does sometimes have the feel of a social experiment but on the other hand crowds have risen quite substantially so, arguably, there is a greater connection with the community. For this level I would also say the standard of football/ entertainment on offer has been excellent over the past three years, even if tesuits have fallen just short. Maybe that has come at a cost that will now become apparent but I'm not sure I would be so enthusiastic about watching county league football.

Yeah, what have the Romans ever done for us? Apart from the fantastic new pitch. and the comfy seats from Wembley. The new loos. The opening up of the ground so you can stand on the far side and walk around. Two additional bars so you don't have to wait so long or walk as far to get a drink. And don't mention the occassional fantastic football we've been watching.A bit of a jolly on the Continent. Games against top teams for the women, an FA cup quarter final against Man Utd. Crowds up, singing up and chips with silly toppings.
Still, you can't please everybody.

Not sure the equal pay policy is still in place, Tressell, though if you only come to the men's games you might want it put back - i believe the women's team now bring in the majority of the revenue and have been subsidising the men for a while.

They may have bought in more revenue, but with relegation that will not be the case. The crowds are also bound too drop.

Greatly improved facilities (especially the bars), entertaining football, large crowds and a better atmosphere. I remember the dire years of the early 2010s as we sunk down the leagues - turning up at the Pan felt like a duty rather than a pleasure. Looking forward to the new season COYR
