More preseason matches than in the last few years. I think that's good.
None of the men's preseason matches are at the Pan. Are we trying to get the pitch better covered with new growth?

Are these games on the 3G pitch as it was said that the men only had the one home friendly because of pitch maintenance?

I would like to thank the young lady who enquired and offered help to me on Eastbourne Station last night. My health was not in a great condition and it cheered me no end that someone cared. She was wearing Lewes FC polo shirt and did herself and her club proud. Thanks again Dave Mitchell.

Lewes 4 Chatham 0
Lots of new faces on show. Not a very testing opposition however. And not an official game I imagine as Chatham didn’t have their own goalkeeper

Where was it played in the end,the club 3G? Shouldn't have been too much of a workout,an easy start to preseason.

Yes on the 3G - No spectators unfortunately so I’ve peeped from a far and chatted to some people for info - will be good to see the whole squad at the Dripping Pan on Sunday

Well I was wrong about the streaming - I am now under the impression that none of the pre season games will be
I’ll try and provide thoughts on the games I catch but will miss next week
1-0 against Cardiff today - probably should have scored a lot more in the first half. Anna Grey providing endless chances from the left wing. V Pursey with the only goal, however didn’t always look threatening and swapped at half time for #7, Kate something, I’m not sure if she’s staying or not yet. The growing grass with windy and wet conditions made the game very tricky to get hold of. But a good test of the team. 523 played, similar to the end of last season. A little bit of interchange with Grey and Farrugia on the left. Hollie Olding looks comfortable in the middle and the defence were untroubled throughout - but playing 3 defenders was slightly unnecessary for this game in particular, thoughts most likely on establishing a shape for the season. Emily Moore scarcely used.
I think we are still crying out for a centre forward - which is slightly annoying considering it’s a position we struggled in last season.
Moore Hamilton Hack Riglar Garrad Grey Olding Hazard Brasero-Careira, Pursey, Farrugia
Subs used
Cleverly, Palmer, Izzy Glass (u23), Trialist (Kate from Liverpool academy maybe)

Thanks for the update as well as the posts on X, formerly known as Twitter <grin>.
Sounds a lot like a 'feeling out' game for preseason trials. There were some sparks of some good hopeful stuff, and some misses.
I think we've struggled for a solid, commanding striker for the last 4 years.... Good forwards are hard to come by.

I’d agree about forwards, very tricky to find at this level. Bristol had two last year but there’s not many others I would even take from teams around us.
What is promising however, is that whereas last year the two wide forwards were mostly attacking midfielders, the last two games these have been wingers, so it is keeping the forward line very high. Also we have two more wingers playing at wingbacks. All of this accumulates to many more open play chances and crosses coming in for whatever forward there may be. Although most were winger to winger, wing back to wing back, heartache to heartache…
What we haven’t seen any glimpse of yet though is any test on the defence. So how playing wingers as full backs will develop I am unsure. To be fair to them both, Caragh Hamilton and Maria Farugia both look up to the task. The attitude from Caragh is hard not to compare to Bex last season, but now with an added goal threat the other end. She was unlucky with at least two chances today. All very promising.
