A lack of continuity is just the nature of non league football when most of the squad are non contract players and loan signings. There are always comings and goings. Tony brought 11 players over from his time at Cray in his first season and they were all well versed in understanding his style of play.

Understand that, but at Lewes it always seems to be more a case of goings and goings. Love Island has more of our players on their books currently than we do.

I agree with you, there's been an alarming silence from the club, leaving fans to read between the lines. But, having the fifth highest average home attendance in the league last season, rightly or wrongly, I'm expecting the new management team will still have a competitive budget to work with. We will see.

It’s always the same this time of year, there is a split between clubs that announce signings early (always a risk) and those that seemingly leave it later to do their business. Whilst it is nice to hear about signings and exciting, we are still only in May - plenty of time yet.

I have been ranting a bit on here recently about the lack of locally born players and players at Lewes that have gone up through the ranks in Sussex teams that seem to be the mainstay of rival non league local clubs. I have just been looking rather enviously at Horsham FC’s excellent website and reading the details about their squad. There are at least ten if not more players who have played either extensively for Sussex clubs ( including 3 or 4 exRooks) or who have local connections. Even their manager( assuming he is still there for next season)Dominic Di Paola has been with the club at least 9 seasons with a lot of success including the Sussex senior cup 23/4 victory. Fans must find it easier to relate more to a team with local players/ manager and local connections than how it has been here at Lewes now for many a season. Great emphasis is also placed on the website on having and attracting local volunteers. Also there are numerous junior teams where players obviously work their way up through the ranks. I do wonder why we don’t take a leaf out of their book instead of constantly blowing our own trumpet about how wonderful we are. I suggest if you can spare the time give their website a visit it is exceptional for a non league team at our level . Oh and before some smart arse tells me to purchase a season ticket for Horsham I have been supporting Lewes for over 20 years with no intention of changing allegiances .

As a FYI, clubs can’t sign any players officially until early June. The registration forms are issued by the league (they change most years) so technically, unless a player was contracted last season for more than a year, or a club has an option to re-sign a contracted player, nobody has signed for anyone. Quite a few of the players being announced by clubs at the moment will change during pre-season as better offers emerge.

Ayo was also listed under his full name on FWP for a couple of games a few years ago too. Lew Carey played a season with Lewes 5 years ago as well
