Archie Tamplin signed for Chelmsford. Perhaps not the most gifted player but 100 per cent commitment and bags of energy. Could well develop into a decent box to box midfielder. No hint of any of the current squad re signing, so assume it will be an entirely new look come August.

That's a surprise, can't believe he has dropped to that level. Guess it's the money being offered.

Once again it just shows how much loyalty management and players have for clubs as soon as the budgets are cut off they all go somewhere else with more money. I don’t say I can’t blame them but when they come and this is management as well they all say what a wonderful club they have come to and big things are going to happen yes when their is plenty of money about they happy but when it runs out they are gone so much for the big times ahead and a wonderful club.

Yeah, it's mad that he's dropped 2 divisions when arguably he could play the league above and has played 2 leagues above in the past. I assume Whyteleafe have silly amounts of money to burn / hide from the taxman to get Ryan to drop to their level.

Many non league clubs are running Boost the Budget campaigns at the moment. Darlington, for example, in NLN expect to raise over £10k. Given the dire straits we are apparently in, I'm surprised there's nothing going on at Lewes. There's been an alarming silence from the club, leaving fans to read between the lines. CEO and manager both saw the writing on the wall, it seems, and doesn't look like any of the current squad will re sign. Am I misreading this?

I would imagine that the new manager knows who he wants. That could include a number of players from his previous club(s) as managers often have their favourites. Glebe are a couple of steps lower so anyone from there certainly needs to step up. I wouldn't expect any of last seasons squad to remain. At the end of the day it's all about contacts and money. I have no idea what Pitts contact book is like but it needs to be good, as will his persuasive skill to attract players capable of performing at this level with a probably reduced budget. It's always a worrying time for us supporters at times like this with not knowing what's going on. But it doesn't automatically mean doom and gloom. Let's just wait and see. Anything could happen.

You only need to read some of the comments from our management team to get the feeling their decision to leave at the end of the season wasn’t driven by a cut in the budget. I know of a couple of other clubs in the Isthmian Premier have cut their playing budgets this year.

I know of a couple of other clubs in the Isthmian Premier have cut their playing budgets this year. Reading Tony's comments it was clear he was frustrated by a lack of continuity, effectively having to build a squad from scratch each season. For whatever reason it's happening again. Ideally you want to keep your core and build on it, rather than make sweeping changes. I reckon about 40 per cent of the new players last season didn't work out (Egan, Hughes, Wood, Murtagh off the top of my head). Obviously the Taylor situation didn't help but it did feel like the team was always a work in progress and the lack of an effective central forward hampered us all season.
