interesting.....I would have put Lowestoft ahead of Lewes, but i suppose Kingy's record played a key part in that.

Yes it would be nice to know who will profit from this sell-off. Not "owners" apparently.

What were the odds for Lewes losing to Worthing? Did anybody put money on that one?

Crazy odds in my view - we should be 4th or 5th at best. If they know what they are doing (!) then it means the first four games should give us a good guide - favourites (Lowestoft), 8th (Billericay) and 12th (Met Police) and bottom (Horsham) i.e. a good spread. That means 6 points good & steady, 8 points great and any more then the bookies might know what they are doing! Less than 6 and it could be a long winter!

I diddnt know they did odds on Ryman games. Even so i dont have a clue why Tooting & Mitcham are so far down i think they will be a really tough side to play next year. Lowerstoft in my view are favourites.
Im not saying no for the season to end like this though !

this method is no way to judge how the league will look in nine months time. anyone shouting about the rooks being favourites is daft. it's a long season and many things can happen. every team we play is now better motivated and some of the posts on here are just unrealistic. lets start winning some points and comment with some dignity...theres no need to wind it up. lets not encourage bookies.

Just merely stating what their site is now quoting. At no point have I stated my personal thoughts that we are favourites.

soton...not aimed at you...some of the posts about beating worthing and heading back to the top flight are just ridiculous. theres a definate optimism thats justified at this stage but lets keep cool and not invite the other clubs fans to consider us as 'big time charlies'. to be respected or feared as a club means consistant good results and ambiance at the pan. behaviour right through the club and the fans is under the spotlight this season. so, i'm ignoring the favourites tag and hoping we just get the good results that we deserve.

Good post Billy.
I am loving this new found optimism, but am certainly not expecting an easy ride by under estimating any opposition. I just want to see a change in fortunes and an end to the downward spiral we have seen in recent times. Let's hope for a decent start to the league campaign and just see how we get on.
Thought it a point of interest why they have decided to shorten the odds though...

I'd say Carlshalton are worth a few pounds each way @ 12s with Skybet. I've heard they've got some money behind them this season.

Carshalton fans a bit worried about where the money is coming from though.

worries about money/sponsors/ rich geezeers who run off..we are past that...i hope. this season is about stability and progress. i would prefer to be nearer the top of the league than involved in more decline. we need to be forging ahead within our budget. a cup run will help. let me explain one of my worries. as a community club, we are desperate to promote local youngsters and , as everybody knows, they cost a lot less than the superstars. presently, we have first team players who live miles away....some times beyond the horizon...and with the price of petrol, are we straying into excess on travelling. whitehawk are mopping up all the best locals. why? they pay more...with less petrol money. am i getting paranoid......

no billy you make a very sensible point........I'm guessing that expenses are inclusive when setting a budget......perhaps the BOD will let us know in due course?

I think you make a fair point billy. I don't think you are paranoid but what we all should remember is that the current board have now got some experience of running this great club. We also have "money men" who know what they are doing and seem to have sorted the finances out and have published where we are.
I for one have faith in this board and I am sure they would have considered players travelling expenses when allowing SK to sign them. We have a differently run club now and I have no doubt the individuals involved will not let the club return to the old days.
Just enjoy the sun and hopefully we will have successful season without worrying about relegation or the budget !!
COME ON YOU ROOKS !!
