Two energetic midtable teams slugging it out in bright sunshine before a bumper bank holiday crowd of 1,975, and a result that seemed about right in the end. There were few chances in the first half, but things got livelier after that. The Hawks took the lead on 49 minutes through a deflected shot, and for a time it seemed that the Rooks had no answer, but once Marcus Sablier had equalised on 75 minutes - after good work by super sub Kalvin - a Rooks win seemed a possibility. We hit the post twice, the second time very late on, but we owed the point to Nathan Harvey, who made two outstanding saves midway through the half and another soon afterwards. As usual we had plenty of the ball going forward but could never find the killer pass. And our Tommy Wood replacement? He never got on the pitch.

A very fair and accurate report. Great to have such a big crowd, an enjoyable 'nothing really on it' afternoon in the sun.

Shame such a poor game with a great Crowd. We seem to just playing out end of Season for Tony and Team to go there way I think that’s very harsh . No lack of effort or intensity, just not enough goals scored and too many conceded. This result was pretty much par for the season but as always, much to admire. It’s really been the season where we’ve failed to answer the Joe Taylor conundrum. We’ll see how it all shakes down in the summer.

It's a shame we didn't really put the pressure on until we had gone a goal down. I reckon that if we had played the first 70 like we played the last 20 we would have won comfortably.
Anyway, great crowd. Today was the first time I have known us to completely sell out of Golden Goal tickets.
So here's a question....today we had maybe 1000 more through the gate than a usual home match without much away support. Let's say 300(?) came from Whitehawk. Where have the other 700 come from? And if it's just because its a bank holiday and people fancied a day out somewhere, how can we get them to come regularly?

Not a great game but certainly not a bad game. Competitive well refereed good spirit and excellent crowd. For those of us who have been to non league many years the attendances are quite phenomenal these days.

I think Whitehawk brought many more than 300, PJ. You are very probably correct. I just plucked a figure out of the air and was very likely way off. If it was 600 that still leaves 400 though.

Quite a few fans who saw a Sussex Leavue game this morning including some of the Peacehaven squad.

It was a dire first half. Fortunately their goal kicked us into life and we were more ourselves after that. Point was probably fair enough. Just a shame there was nothing riding on the game - crowd of almost 2000 deserved better. Whelpdale will be kicking himself missing that chance at the death.

And was won by the bloke in the group next to me who was at his first ever game at the Pan

Seemed to be quite a few from Peacehaven & Telscombe - their game was an 11:00 kick off so wonder if a few people got to both?

They enjoyed it. One of them independently returned today with a few of his mates. They also enjoyed it and will return
