To beat nine men with a clean sheet doesn't sound much, but the fact is the Rooks were far superior to the visitors both individually and as a team from the first whistle, and when the first red was hoisted after 21 minutes it was pretty clear that a comfortable victory was on the way.
That dismissal was for a high boot into the of Archie, who recovered to win the MoM award. Within ten minutes we were two goals to the good. First Kalvin worked his way across the penalty area to fire a low shot into the corner, and then Ola drew a foul as he burst into the area and Tommy Wood smacked home the penalty.
A second yellow just before the break for another foul on Ola seemed a little harsh, and it would have been even worse for Potters Bar had Kalvin not skied a shot over the bar from a few yards out.
But the result was never really in doubt, and the impressive Mings sealed it with af fierce shot on 52 minutes when a clearance fell kindly to him after one of a series of Lewes attacks.
The crowd of 929 warmed to the return of Ryan Gondoh at the break, and he saw plenty of the ball as we built endless patient attacks without going for the jugular - a fierce shot from Arthur Penney, brilliantly tipped over by their keeper, being the closest we got to a fourth.
Something of a dull procession in the second half then, but credit to the visitors for sticking at it when all was lost. The Rooks move up to ninth, with games in hand, and reaching the play-off places once again seems a distinct possibility.

Thought we were the better team but can't complain too much about the second. They sat behind the ball and are a decent team, we gave 45 minutes to get Gondoh and Sablier fit and didn't work too much ahead of a big away game on Monday

Some were frustrated by not going on and scoring 6. But it was absolutely the right decision to try and save the legs a bit for Monday. There's probably valid reasons for it, but I think playing Mondays is too quick a turnaround.

Did think we could’ve bagged a couple more to help the GD, especially with Billericay and W&F enjoying large scores, but in the end I think it was the right call to slow things down and preserve for the game on Monday. Hashtag were on the losing end of a tight 9-goal thriller today so maybe they’ll regret opting for Monday as the midweek game!

It was my first match back at the Dripping Pan since mid October (forced upon me by surgery), but what a match to come back to, thanks to the Rooks for such a good afternoon.

Potters Bar might feel a bit hard done by, but I don’t think they have any right to. I had an excellent view of all the major incidents. Both sendings off were correct. The first one was a terrible challenge, he came flying through the air with boots at head height. It’s fortunate that Tamplin wasn’t seriously hurt. The second sending off was correct as well. The tackle was cynical and stupid when you’re already on a booking. The penalty was a penalty in the 21st century, once he felt a touch he was going down. The one the ref got wrong was the most obvious handball you will ever see. The ref patted his chest to show where the ball hit, but it definitely hit the players arm.
Agree with everyone else really. 3-0 is a good win but it could have been more. Good to rest players with a game on Monday. It wasn’t lack of effort that kept the score down, but there was some poor finishing that could have been costly in a closer game.

I can't see how potters bar could feel hard done today. Lewes were in control before any cards were shown. Both reds correct. Could of had 3 penalties. Arthur Penny unlucky not to get on the score sheet to make it 4. And hardly a shot from Potters Bar. Great decision to save the legs today if we win on Monday

Potters Bar manager said both reds were correct. Nice easy three points.
Also very efficient service in the main bar today, very little queuing even at half time. We're quick to moan when it's slow so thought I'd highlight that

Thanks stevet, I hadn't seen that the visitors' manager agreed with the first red. From the other side of the pitch it looked a bit harsh, with no malice intended, but of course it was dangerous and his foot shouldn't have been there, so fair enough. It was a shame, however, because we lost our intensity once we played against fewer players and the game petered out. But what a fabulous save from their keeper to deny Penney a fourth - he couldn't believe it hadn't gone in!
