Strikers like Taylor come around once a decade. The way the game is played now you rarely get a classic no9 scoring more than 20 a season. Anything over 15 is decent. Wood got off to a slow start but he's doing OK. Crucially, given we have no back up, he seems to stay fit. He should have scored two from open play on Saturday, mind.

I don’t want to turn this into a thread moaning about one of our own, I guess we’ll see over the next few weeks who comes and who goes.

I wouldn’t be so sure about a top pedigree number 9 being out of our price range, I should think Egan was on a pretty penny - maybe even highest paid. He came with huge potential but never materialised, but that’s a different story. Agree on Ayo, is a solid 7 out of 10 every game, certainly not a weak link at all. Same for Tamplin when he fills in there too. I think Kane is settled at Bayern 😂 But serious question, do you know any no 9s who might be in our price bracket and would offer more than Wood? I think we have to be realistic...anyone who is banging in goals ain't coming to Lewes.
