Wasn’t at the game but must admit I thought we would struggle when I saw the team sheet. it Irritates me when we can’t name a full squad,
Gondoh being injured is bad news as arguably he has been our best player by far. No Pritchard or Dalling yesterday either, were they inured too? Egan came off at half time as well, we haven’t really had a chance to see much of him yet and don’t recall him managing to complete a full 90 yet, that’s a worry as he was heralded as our main signing!
Tony said that the first part of the season would be a struggle and after an amazing start it appears he was correct. Although the four games mentioned without a win have been Hornchurch, Bognor, Folkestone and Chatham….not exactly the easiest run of fixtures.

Took my son down to Chatham for the match, 2nd game of the season for us ( Folkestone was the first ) and have to say another very disappointing performance. I have been an absent Lewes fan due to other commitments but decided to reconnect again but starting to reconsider my decision 😊
The first half was a poor performance with passes going astray and nothing being created, I was expecting much more from our 2 wide men but they created virtually nothing and but for Harvey we could have been out of it. Second half we began well but faded after the first 20 minutes and Chatham thoroughly deserved their win.
Few observations, Wood up front is not good enough for this standard, I could probably mark him and I’m in my mid 50s. The management duo having a row with the linesman and a spectator was, in my opinion, what caused the first goal. We just seemed to switch off whilst the ref had a word with TR and seconds later they got their penalty. Lewes need creativity, pace and someone who can pick a pass. We desperately need a striker.
As for Chatham, one man team! Their left winger was a different class to everyone else on the pitch. Nice ground but tiny pitch, why put the stand so far away? Wasted space. Only downside, other than the result, was that annoying Chatham fan behind the goal screaming 1-0 every time they had a corner. Onwards and upwards, come on you Rooks.

Of Salmon is playing, you know that's at least one goal for the opposition!

I knew this was a match that was not going to go well. A visit to the ladies required a Chatham supporter to hold the cubicle door shut as there wasn't a lock. What is it about ladies loos and non league football including Lewes, they are not good. A disappointing game, the only bright spot the rather good chips at half time. Good value at £2.50

Superb report, summed up the match and facilities to perfection. Salmon, or man bun as we like to call him, didn't have the best of games but he wasn't alone. The most frustrating player for me was Moore, so many times in the first half the ball was knocked behind their right back and he was nowhere near it. He needs to be thinking ahead and also go to the ball rather than wait for it to reach him. Harvey was outstanding, deserved MOM.

Could be worse, we could be Sheffield United fans that went!
