Yes , I’ve committed to yet another giver out the award for MOM. This season I’ll be posting both home & away for the chosen players.
12/08/23 (h) -v- Cay Wanderers - for an outstanding debut performance my award went to Arthur PENNEY , well done. Also special mention to Nathan HARVEY (g/keeper) who contributed to the result with some fine saves.
16/08/23 (a) -v- Kingstonian - there were a number of performances that could easily have merited my award . Overall for his contribution/impact upon the result , we congratulate Tommy WOOD , well done. Notable effort from Kalvin LUMBOMBO-KALALA.
19/08/23 (a) -v- Potters Bar Town - after a blistering Ist 20m , the game {not my words} was not pretty , but we came away with the points , and up to second in table. Todays stand out player for my award was Nathan HARVEY , well done. Special mention goes to Chris WHELPDALE.
26/08/23 (h) -v- Hornchurch - what cracking game. Evenly contested , we created enough chances to double our tally during the second period , but that man NASH thwarted our endeavour to win. My MOM for overall coolness under pressure , was Arthur PENNEY , well done. Special mention to ‘keeper Nathan HARVEY. 🤲
28/08/23 (a) -v- Bognor Regis Town - having been well on top , it would appear that a player from our opposition showed ungentlemanly conduct in an effort to stop our flow. “WHERE WAS THE REFEREE” > In the end we had the last LAUGH - sneaking an unlikely draw. Today our MOM was awarded to Jake ELLIOTT for a concerted effort …… my congratulations.
Special mention for Archie TAMPLIN , who I’m told , played well 👏.
02/09/23 (a) -v- Faversham Town {FA CUP 1st Qual}. By all accounts , a professional performance by everyone’s, , today’s MOM was Jake ELLIOTT , well done Jake , and to Tommy WOOD on his goal.
09/09/23 (h) -v- Folkestone Invicta - a difficult decision today , but overall it’s all about impact. Whoever I chose , I knew it wouldn’t be right , everyone has a different take of the game. A bad day at the office for the wrong result. I congratulate Tommy WOOD. Special mention to Harvey Hughes at full back.
15/09/23 (a) -v- Ascot United {FA CUP 2nd Qual} , the player who stood out was Chris WHELPDALE , so I congratulate him with MOM. The Ascot United match report re-iterated the choice , stating a masterclass performance.
23/09/23 (a) -v- Chatham Town , we weren’t at the races!! Some other strange divisional results too! By all accounts Nathan HARVEY saved a MASSACRE , so we say well done to him. No special mentions today.
26/09/23 (h) -v- Hastings United - what a *shift* by all. Picking MOM wasn’t clear-cut , with more than one contender. Some excellent work by both Jake & Ayo …. but overall impact that swayed my choice was our loan signee , Marcus SABLIER.
30/09/23 (h) -v- Hampton & Richmond Borough {FA CUP 3rd QUAL} , a comptent display of carpet football resulting three goals. Marcus SABLIER was prominent , defence marrshalled by Arthur PENNEY ..... however my MOM was Jake ELLIOTT , who IMO was outstanding - so congratulate him.
07/10/23 (h) -v- Lowestoft Town {FA TROPHY 3rd Qualifying} , after a 6th min setback (0-1) , we were tremendous. I thought Tommy WOOD had his best game so far. Bradley showed his class , but for me todays most contributory player was Ayo OLUKOGA. I congratulate him with my MOM award. New signee Ola OGUNWAMIDE showed that he will fit well into our system of play & to cap his small performance (came on a sub 2nd period) with a goal.
14/10/23 (a) -v- Aldershot Town {FA CUP 4th Qualifying}. According to my source at game , we played very well , but found that they had more to offer in final 3rd. Two players that CONTRIBUTED most to our game were Tommy WOOD & Jake ELLIOTT , with Jake getting the nod for MOM.
21/10/23 (h) -v- Enfield Town , everyone put behind the disappointment of our FA CUP match. Enfield today (1st half) sat back & packed their defence , hoping for counter attack , which happened. Special mention to both Archie TAMPLIN & Arthur PENNEY , both had a good game. We were very fortunate to have a match sponsor & they chose Bradley PRITCHARD for MOM , lets CONGRATULATE him.
23/10/23 (a) -v- Carshalton Athletic , Nathan HARVEY played his part in helping us to secure a point , but undoubtedly it was Jake ELLIOTT who stole the show , so he receives my MOM award. Special mention to Archie TAMPLIN , whose showing against both Enfield & Carshalton was creditable.
28/10/23 (a) -v- Dulwich Hamlet {FA TROPHY 1st Round} , some very good performances across the board today , one player (previously @ Dulwich H) stood tall , so we congratulate Ronnie VINT with my MOM award.
04/11/23 (a) -v- Margate , not the result expected , bearing our recent form. With so many *mentions* in previous games , I’m pleased to announce our MOM today was Archie TAMPLIN - so congratulations from everyone.
07/11/23 (h) - FC Oslo {FENIX TROPHY Group’D’) , 1st half we were slick with our passing , both Kalvin & Deon a menace on the flanks. We managed the 2nd half with aplomb!. Overall contribution to the result (1-0) was Harvey HUGHES , so CONGRATULATIONS to him for my MOM.
11/11/23 (h) - Wingate & Finchley , a blistering start with some intricate passing saw Tommy WOOD open the scoring (4m on the clock) , but in their 1st meaningful attack we conjured an own goal. A draw looked the cards ….. we should taken the lead but squandered the chance , but in stoppage time succumbed to their endeavour. Nathan HARVEY was excellent all afternoon and won my MOM award with (5) magnificent saves.
18/11/23 (a) - Whitehawk {FA TROPHY 2nd Round} , yet another great start for the opener 0-1 , but complacency led to their equaliser , then gave away a pen 2-1. Have no complaints regarding their third. By all accounts SOLID in 2nd half (or did the hawks just manage out the game ). We had two contenders for our MOM , not easily separated …. so they’ll both get a prize from me. We thank both Ola & Arthur for their contributions.
25/11/23 (h) - Haringey Borough , after a shambolic 1st (45m) , I feared the worst moving ahead , remembering our last home encounter. Their movements were slick- they chased to our limit. WE NEVER GOT GOING 🤦. But then ……. After a shuffle of places at start of 2nd period (46m) , we were level ……. never could’ve predicted the outcome. Chris WHELPDALE was a prominent feature and got my MOM with (2 goals).
02/12/23 (a) - Concord Rangers , WOW - OMG , I didn’t see this result coming. I spoke JV after the game - overall we were not very good - was his comment. In keeping with my tradition of awarding MOM regardless of the result, Vinesey singled out the new boy at left-back. So let’s congratulate Sam OGUNTAYO.
09/12/23 (h) - Dulwich Hamlet , OH DEAR! We were totally devoid of any constructive play today. I don’t mind the losing but there was nothing to get excited about. I told the players that NOBODY deserved my MOM award. No one person SHONE , a wheelchair 🧑🏾🦼supporter showed greater energy ———- as I left the pitch I decided to give their No 8 my bottle of plonk (A FIRST FOR ME) much to his surprise. As time progressed I've watched the video of the game & decided to give something of an award to Sam OGUNTAYO (in keeping with my pledge).
12/12/23 (a) - KSK BEVEREN - (FENIX TROPHY (Group’D’) , from early reports we were very slick with our passing in Belgium. I don’t have full details but overall we played very well. Archie TAMPLIN contributed greatly to our success and rightly so , was awarded MOM.
16/12/23 (h) - Cheshunt , some unexpected news (leaders Hornchurch lose , Haringey & PBT both win away). Despite our early setback , management pleased with today’s application. Standing TALL today was Luke DREHER , so we congratulate him- he gets my MOM award. Note , I wasn’t in attendance.
26/12/23 (a) - Whitehawk , a very good *mind-set* from the group from the outset. Apparently Jake ELLIOTT had a tremendous game - Chris WHELPDALE was at his best today with special mention to Deon MOORE for his contribution - MOM TODAY (actually men) was shared between ELLIOTT & WHELPDALE. I congratulate all concerned.
29/12/23 (a) - Hornchurch , an all round gritty performance. I predicted a draw , one time thinking that man NASH again dashed my hopes. In the end the boys stuck to their tasks. This evening , for outstanding defending (I’m told) Man-of-the-Match is Ronnie VINT. Congratulations to him.
01/01/24(h) - Bognor Regis Town , we lacked a cutting edge in the first half, fortunately Bognor had left their shooting boots at Nyewood Lane & that NATHAN 🤲 was alert with two very good saves. Overall a dour affair with only *one moment of note* when we scored the winning goal. Todays sponsor chose Nathan HARVEY as MOM , please congratulate him.
06/01/24 (a) - Cray Wanderers , the whole squad put in a heck of a shift , with two returnees GONDOH/SABLIER , showing what’s been missing of late. Today’s MOM - not just for his goal but for his enormous contribution to the result. We all congratulate Kalvin LUMBOMBO-KALALA.
13/01/24 (h) - Potters Bar Town ~ b4 they felt the wrath of the arbiter, we moved the ball around well {2-0 at the break}. 2nd half petered out with no real intentions. PBT sacrificing their main strike force to stem the potential flow. IMO they looked a better outfit when all seemed lost! They ran their socks-off.
Some notable efforts within our ranks , but I chose Archie TAMPLIN (very strong performance today) to receive MOM.
15/01/24 (a) - Hashtag United , our fine form continues at The Len Salmon. Chris WHELPDALE (6m) puts us on the front foot , it was another 24min b4 they equalised…… then KLK got on the scoresheet ~ 2-1 up at the break. We conceded (76m) with the home supporters numbed when Kalvin got our winner (77m). Needless to say Kalvin got my MOM award for his effort - please congratulate him.⚽️📣
20/01/24 (a) Billericay Town , as it has already been mentioned *being torn to pieces* - I’ll not comment on todays game , but in keeping with awarding a MOM prize regardless of the result , someone shines. I spoke to Vinesey & he said that “Only Nathan HARVEY stood tall”. Congratulate him if you think him worthy. The ‘OG’s didn’t help.
27/01/24 (h) Margate ……… having visited our dressing room , I told the boys NOT to lose on my Birthday (78) - they obliged in some style. At most home games I have the unenviable task of selecting MOM , but there were 4 x owners (all the way from WALES) sponsoring the game. They made the choice today. Congrats to Kalvin L-K for MOM award. Special mention from me for Chris WHELPDALE for his contributions (he was everywhere). A terrific response by the whole group , putting the previous result to bed!
30/01/24 (h) Carshalton Athletic , mm somewhat shell-shocked after Saturday’s turnaround , but Hey! Ho! We’re still in the mix. Joe related that we *weren’t good* noting the only standout player albeit with a show of only 35 minutes of play , was Archie TAMPLIN. Therefore in keeping with my pledge to “praise the good” , say well done ARCHIE.
03/02/24 (a) Wingate & Finchley , nout great to mention overall. Having read the SC report & watched some video footage - I can note that CHris WHELPDALE needs a mention for his contribution. Lets thank him for his efforts.
06/02/24 (h) Billericay , game played at a hectic pace in horrendous conditions , a credit to both sides {albeit not finishing in our favour}. Special mention as previous game , we must put our hands together for Chris WHELPDALE , for his efforts. He'll receive an award from me.
10/02/24 (a) Hastings , *WHAT A TURNAROUND* , Take a bow “The management”. Statistics had us on to a LOSS w/o scoring.
I’m told that Kieran MURTAGH was masterclass today , with three assists. Say congratulations to Kieran , his 1st MOM.
17/02/24 (h) Chatham {sorry I'm a bit late with these comments}. I can only take heart from the *Supporters Club* report , who highlighted Nathan HARVEY as the only ray of sunshine on another dismal home result. So lets congratulate him. WELL DONE NATHAN.
24/02/24 (a) Horsham - Must be the letter *H* (not wishing to KYBOSH) or away day magnificence of late. Thats (2) consecutive away games with the same winning margin. Well done to the whole team , but which someone is receive my award today. Having messaged Joe VINES , it transpires that both Ayo OLUKOGA and Marcus SABLIER made the biggest contribution to the result. Lets give them both a round of applause. They equally share my award.
27/02/24 (h) KSK Beveren - overall a cracking spectacle. Beveren fans swelled the Philcox terraces & behaved , mingling with many Lewes fans. Lewes started at a high pace with both wingers giving the opposition a torrid time. A goal-mouth scramble on (4m) developed into the first goal (L). The remainder of the first half we lacked less conviction in the final third. We were very much better in 2nd half which resulted in (3) more goals.
Much praise to Beveren who showed promise when a cross from the left was somehow clawed away by Nathan H - a world-class save IMO.
Marcus SABLIER was immense throughout and understandably received MOM. Notable efforts from Jack LEAHY (his first start). Please congratulate the whole team , who are FENIX finalists , COYR.
02/03/24 (h) Canvey Island - with nout much in it we broke the deadlock (63m) & led until (90m). Six minutes announced as added time …… during this period (3) more goals found the onion-bag. When JAKE made it 2-1 (92m) I thought *we got em beat* …. but our nemesis Higgins popped in the equaliser . My MOM today was Chris WHELPDALE , outstanding throughout.
09/03/24 (a) Enfield Town - a *false* result considering the amount of possession (camped in their half) for the majority of the 2nd period. Two or three chances were not executed , paying the price for their early goal (7m). Praising The Good - Luke DREHER was stand-out , thwarting any further mishaps - well done to him ….. my MOM.
16/03/24 (a) Dulwich Hamlet - DEJA - VU. Yet again ‘toothless’ in final third - some excellent approach work with nout to show our dominance. I’m told they (DH) were there for the taking. It’s been a while since Arthur PENNY was MOM , but he showed a gr8 contribution, congratulations to him.
20/03/24 (a) FC OSLO - a good performance by all (especially as we took had some NEW faces with the line-up) after a long journey 🛷 away from home. Notable contributions to the result from Kieran MURTAGH scoring our goal as well. Our MOM was Sanchez MING. Please congratulate him , his 1st at Lewes. Well done from me.👌😎
I watched a video *replay* of game ….. I’ve always liked Walter FIGUEIRA ….. he didn’t disappoint , he was everywhere giving the opposition a torrid time - very noteworthy contribution.
23/03/24 (h) Concord Rangers , mathematically one more win and relatively SAFE from the drop. Game started in atrocious conditions - hailstorm & strong wind affecting any flow. Concord made the early breakthrough (Penalty) which woke us up (having missed the *onion bag* on numerous occasions) found ourselves level at the interval. Second half we dominated with Ola poking in the winner after good approach work by Kalvin. Today we had a Match Sponsor & their children picked Sam OGUNTAYO as MOM. Let’s congratulate his efforts.
29/03/24 (a) Folkestone - words of dreadful & dismay come to mind - some hardened supporters traipsed homeward B4 final whistle. Even JV made a vehemently LOW EXPLETIVE of the performance. In order to praise-the-good , there was one ray of sunshine, as Ola OGUNWAMIDE had a good game. So let’s thank him for his efforts…….. today’s MOM.
01/04/24 (h) Whitehawk - both Penney & Elliott were sound at the ever present SALVO. Our carpet game lacked penetration in final 3rd. We woke up after going behind & with a little more composure could’ve won - an outstanding contribution by Marcus SABLIER , so he got MOM.
06/04/24 (a) Cheshunt - Nout much to write home about! Words of DIRE & TERRIBLE was all I heard. For what it's worth Jake ELLIOTT was the our best player and in keeping with my pledge , he'll be receiving the MOM award (his 7th of this campaign , capping this feat with (6) away from the PAN). Thankyou JAKE.
09/04/24 (a) Canvey Island - Some great 👍 performances tonight by everyone. Bodes well for away trip in ITALY. Unusually for us , 2 LATE GOALS (91 & 95 ) but I’ll take ‘em whenever they arrive. Overall Walter FIGUEIRA stood out , so let’s congratulate him with his first MOM. COYR.
13/04/24 (h) Kingstonian - blustery conditions made the first half a non-spectacle 0-0. We took the lead (52m) & looked to add to the score. Some lackadaisical play during 2nd period almost cost us dearly…. thankfully Nathan was alert to their efforts.
VINT scored with our best move of the afternoon. However K finally got rich reward for themselves (90m). Today’s MOM Nathan HARVEY with a special mention to Arthur PENNEY.
16/04/24 (h) Horsham - by all accounts , Arthur & Jake were absolute giants. We were terrific across the squad - a neighbour (a regular supporter) commented “the best game he’d watched all season”. The whole team showed togetherness and personality. Arthur PENNEY shaded it and understandably received MOM. Well done to everyone.
20/04/24 (h) Hashtag United - With so many positives from the Horsham mid-week affair , we looked a bit flat-footed in a bitterly cold afternoon at the Pan. Hashtag Utd worked busily and got their just rewards (0-1 at the break). The 2nd period we had them on the back-foot as we showed more VERVE. Nathan made some important stops to avoid them adding to our woe. Arthur took charge at the back & eventually our patient play wore them down & our latest to be welcomed into the Lewes FC *Hall of Fame* scored {Bradley P.) from good work by Kalvin. Enter Ola OGUNWAMIDE whose wonder strike (a contender for GOAL-of-the-SEASON award} eventually sealed the win. His goal gave the PHILCOX faithful a lift , whose singing lasted long after the final whistle. Incidently OLA was awarded M.O.M.. Wel done to all players - now four consecutive wins.
27/04/24 (a) Haringey Borough - Yes , we played the basement club , long ago doomed to resignation from the Prem , but we *turned-up* to make it (5) consecutive wins. Who’d thought that mid-term. Everyone played their part (and YES) we probably should’ve hat a hatful. Our last league game , but not my last award to this great set of players (both on -n-off the field). There will be at least (1) more award *semi-final in Italy and with luck the final tie.
Today having a great influence on the result , I’m pleased to announce Ayo OLUKOGA as MOM. let’s congratulate him.
Top man-of-the-match was Jake ELLIOTT , with a total of (7) awards - six away from the PAN.
FENIX TROPHY Semi-Final 10/05/24 in Italy - by all accounts we far superior in play but failed to score when placed. Reports from the dug-out saying that on our amount of good approach work should’ve had us at least 4 up by the interval. However we fell to their hard press early second half (54m) & that was that. Yet again Jake shone (making (7) away MOM. Let’s congratulate him. One more game to play-v- Enfield Town. Report b4 closing 23/24 chapter.
