This was all very strange. Lewes played well and absolutely bossed the game, but never looked like winning it. Two more soft looking goals conceded. But, different to last week, we made a number of good chances and missed the lot. Very frustrating as Dulwich didn't look very good to me and, in my opinion, were there for the taking.

More of the same old story nobody to put the ball in the net, conceding the first goal inside two minutes and an own goal although it was hard to see who it was through the crowd of players. After that Lewes had most of the play pushing Dulwich back in their own half and we were making chances but couldn’t put the ball into the net, then in stoppage time of the half another rare attempt from a cross was headed in what looked like almost out of Harvey’s hands two nil HT. second half much the same with Dulwich having a few more chances but very little from Lewes upfront just about ends our slim playoff chances.

The stats will show we dominated. All except the most important one. That’s been the case too often this season I’m afraid. Teams have found us out, go defensive and hit us on the counter. Trouble is we keep making it easy for them by conceding sloppy goals.

Have just read the Supporters Report in a hotel in Stratford Upon Avon. Went to see an amazing production of A Mid Summer's Nights Dream last night at the RSC, maybe the team needs a touch of Puck's magic.

Thought we played pretty well overall, but let down by the same old failings. Gave away two cheap goals and the madness of persisting without a proper forward on the pitch continues. I think Tony's dream must be a team full of wingers. I must admit, I've given up trying to understand the rationale for some of the decision making...taking off Elliott (our most potent threat from set pieces) and refusing to throw Wood into the fray when we were 2-0 down and Whelpdale had run out of steam seemed perverse. Dulwich were strong, well organised but very limited. Essentially the same team played off the park in the Trophy. While they have gelled as a unit, Lewes have gone backwards as the season progressed. What is going on with Wood? Does he trigger a new contract if he gets a minute more playing time? Why is he on the bench at all if he doesn't get a look in when we are 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go and dominating possession? Vint: so many aimless long balls which went through to the keeper. Why doesn't he go wide, to our strengths? Yet, among the madness, there's a team in there somewhere. Some lovely passing, flicks around the box, Penney driving forward. The frustration of being a Lewes fan

It's the Joe Taylor effect. How many has he scored lately, exactly? Is it 41 so far this season? OK a division down but, like all clubs I'd think, you try bringing in a player from a division down so the difference isn't huge. My point (excluding waffle) is - we don't have an out-and-out striker. We have to pass it round their box as there's no stereotypical number nine "goal poacher" "fox in the box" type so we have to rely on attacking midfielders as our main source of goals. Look at Sam Bloomin' Higgins. Scores goals but does little else (as an aside, the local paper once printed he'd scored his 900th goal of the season!!).
