The latest job vacancy at Lewes FC is being advertised at £1,500 per week, £75,000 FTE. It’s only for 10 weeks (£15k) but is social media a priority for a football club?

Would be happy to leave it to volunteers and put £15k in the new number 9 fund.

Is there a football club at a reasonable level that doesn't use social media?

A very active social media presence is a MUST for a club in today's world IMO. But I too would have liked to see it done by a volunteer as well.

I agree it would be nice if a volunteer did it. Unfortunately in my experience as a Member secretary of a sports organisation getting volunteers is very difficult. Also I imagine a knowledgeable social media officer probably can generate a fair amount of income with advertising and sponsorship and is probably expected too.

Is this direct from club funds or is it grant/FA funding related ?

I take it back, we don’t need the money for a striker, Murtagh is class - throw it all at an instagrammer!

My initial reaction to this is that this is what happens when you make a lot of media types directors and no accountants. What is the plan here? Are we planning for a time when the money runs out or are we spend spend spend our way through the legacy that has been left to the club. How does the expenditure of £15k translate into balancing the clubs finances - though to be fair if it is three days a week it will only be 60% of that figure. It strikes me that in ten weeks you can achieve almost nothing beyond an ephemeral splash. It would make more sense to have a full time role if there is a belief that the role adds tangible value.
Alternatively the Board have taken the view that we are financially ****ed anyway so we might as well go out in a blaze of publicity. We seem to be heading towards a cliff edge and have chosen to run slightly faster
