At last Friday night’s very convivial ‘Meet the Manager’ and Player Awards 2016 -2017 evening we took the opportunity to hold the ‘Pan for Gold’ draws for May and June 2017. First prize for May was Ball No 5 which comes under the long-time £5 per month Standing Order paid out of the bank account of those legendary Lewes Fisher Street barbers, Andy & Marvin. Tragically we lost Andy Donovan to illness several years ago and Marvin subsequently has suffered a severe stroke but their company subscription has continued to be paid. I will investigate and see where we stand for the future. Andy and Marvin were and are great Lewes characters. Andy was a next-door neighbour to my family on Evelyn Road, Landport, in the Sixties. Such a very nice guy and taken so young.
Second prize of £30.50 went to my sister Cathy Brinkhurst (47) who will also have known Andy very well. Third prize went to that regular and uncannily lucky regular winner, John Ellis (45). A well deserved winner as he supports the club in lots of other ways as well.
We then moved on to the June draw. Bear in mind that witnesses included Jason Foulkes (who has two PFG balls) and long-time supporter Norman Duncan and you have to excuse the result: First prize of £60.50 to Nick Cannan (9). Second prize of £30.50 to Jason Foulkes. Third prize of £30.50 to Norman Duncan. And the last two even drew each other’s balls!
But you’ve got to be in it to win it!

It's worse than that, David. We each drew our own ball out of the bag. One day we'll show you how it's done Anyway - thanks for the work you put in to PfG - and all the recent Golden Window bar work etc - saw you handing over a large cheque to the Club on Friday night, which I'm sure will be most welcome.
