:)All's well that ends well but boy it was a tense second half for fans of the Rooks. After bossing the first half and creating four or five great chances and converting two of them, the Rooks looked to be cruising with Michael Malcolm back on song, Nic Ciardini hustling to great effect and Christian Nanetti positively on fire. But come the second half and it was a different story with Canvey fighting back and the Rooks being penned back into their own half for uncomfortably long periods plus the Essex side having much of the possession. Yes, we struck their post and also had Boothy's well-placed penalty thwarted by a super save from the Canvey keeper but my second half memories are mostly of incredible heroics from Liam Mitchell between our sticks and a goal-bound header off the line from, I believe, Max Hustwick plus what looked like a definite penalty for Canvey ruled out by the ref. New guy Leon Constantine has a great track record but looked ineffective today; no doubt he will gell with the team given time. As the clocked ticked down and we conceded a goal I feared the worst - made even more heart-palpitating when the added three minutes of stoppage time became, I am sure, at least five minutes total. Still we got the three points and sit in shared second place. Plus it was sweet that Wealdstone should have held Lowestoft to a draw. By the way, very nice people at Canvey and their club management folk were very gracious in defeat even though their team came so close to making the match all square. Final thought tonight on Lewes? Well to be where we are with so many games where we've not quite been on song for the whole or part of the matches is brilliant. It's going to click 100% soon and then we'll be awesome!
