Ah right. So someone can write what they want on a forum or social media but as long as their employer doesn’t find out it’s all ok… I’ve always used the principle that whatever I post or respond to on a forum or in social media, I’d have absolutely no issues saying it to an individual or a group face to face. Good for you. But not everyone is as lucky with who they work for – a friend's son got into a bit of a fix with his work agency after posting about zero hours jobs online a few years ago under his full name, and I'm sure there are many similar stories around from the less-fortunate. I don't think I've ever posted anything here or elsewhere that I also wouldn't say face-to-face. That's not to say it isn't tempting at times, of course. I can't speak for others, naturally, but I maintain that this forum is 99.9% of the time more like a parish council meeting than the archetypal social media free-for-all. But I'll repeat that I have no desire to give google and all the rest anything whatsoever about myself that I can avoid them having. My wife and I are quite proud of the fact that nothing whatsoever comes up on google about either of us, unlike the many people who must be an on-line crook's dream. If people want this forum to be non-anonymous, it's very easy to do, I'm sure. Maybe time for a vote?

It is a customary practice on forums to use a pseudonym for purposes of privacy and safety. I also use the Palace forum where it is pretty much 100% all pseudonyms. Brighton forum used to be but I cannot look at that as they are doing so well! I have posted under my name on here, lost the email account and details and now post under the rightsoffans, the new name for the fanzine, new issue coming out soon! Really cannot see the problem here. This forum is very tame and well behaved. I know people who avidly digest the Supporters Club Facebook group but do not post as they wish to remain anonymous. What on earth is wrong with that? Yes, with forums there is rough and tumble, this is the nature of them and half the fun is because people post anonymously and are therefore more forthright.
