I’m not sure whether to be concerned by the latest tweet regarding the 12th man fund. We are certainly getting a bit of stick about it anyway. It sounds like we are struggling to attract players and that Tony isn’t completely happy with the squad assembled and with just over 2 weeks until the season starts that is worrying. Seems a bit of a downer compared to the great news earlier on in the week The 12th Man/Woman fund has always been there and there’s a few fans on here who contribute a few pounds every month - we are promoting it now along with other schemes such as the dual careers programme because we are asked on occasions by fans how they can financially help and this gives them an opportunity to choose how their generous donations will be used. Many clubs in our league have a similar fund - Billericay, who potentially have one of the biggest budgets use it, as too do Horsham I believe. There’s a big difference between struggling to attract and not being able to offer the same wages as other clubs. Whilst some may think we are “big spending Lewes” we don’t have the level of budgets that other sides have. It’s not all about money - you have to be able to get the best out of the players you have, but on occasion and extra few £££ can make a difference in bringing in a player who could be a game changer for us. The way we play football and the way we treat our players is a bigger factor than being the best payers for some. We’ve seen some eye-opening requests from players this summer who have ended up going to our rivals. Good luck to them. If fans have a few spare pounds then fantastic. If not then your vocal support is all we ask. When I tell friends I watch Lewes, and that they might be surprised by the quality of some of the players/football on show, the most common question is how much do they get paid? I have to confess I don't really know. Is there an average for the league, per week, or a typical annual squad budget that can be shared. I know the budget at Chester (my home team), in NLN, is now upwards of 400k which is probably top half. Our 'boost the budget' campaign (which rolls over each season on direct debit) has just raised 100k. But there are always teams (AFC Fylde last season) with crazy budgets. Then step up to National League and Wrexham (an exceptional case due to the celebrity ownership) were paying Paul Mulllin 235K alone. It does make me fear for the future of fan owned clubs which are trying to be sustainable. Inevitably it falls to the fans to dip into their pockets. I'd also urge Lewes fans to try to bring along as many mates as possible as a way of making us competitive. I reckon I introduced about a dozen last season and without exception they were impressed by the whole experience.

I know this is going off at a little bit of a tangent, but I feel Lewes football club for me is more than just a game of football; I think the club could promote the town more (it's a great place!)and I think the town could promote the club more. Now, I come down from Essex for a home game and I spend time in Brighton, then get the bus to and from Lewes. So it's a whole experience for me rather than just a football match, a full day out and there's usually lunch involved somewhere along the line! This aspect, as in Lewes being a great town, could be a pulling point for some players. Just my opinion.

Oh that's a shame, didn't see it mentioned anywhere unless I missed it. Reading the above post, are we (fans) assuming Olukoga, Gondoh, Moore, Dalling and Pritchard haven't signed this season? Anymore signings to be announced? What was the results of the Poll of our new kits?, eta of them being sold? Any news on the above players/a keeper yet

I see Tyrique Hyde didn't win Love Island (came third). I wonder where he sees his future. Arguably our best player last season and certainly transformed the midfield. Probably sign for Horsham😭

Hmmm. Joe Taylor, Carey, Razz gone. Hyde - what's happening there? No goalkeeper yet and the season starts in 6 days. Not looking great unless I'm missing something.

Razz and Lew Carey left at the end of last season, whilst we announced the signing of Penney, Vint, Elliott, Murtagh, Whelpdale…Unless I’m mistaken we’ve played with keepers in every pre-season game…

Agreed we played a goalkeeper in every match - however that's in the Laws Of The Game; Law3.1 states "A match is played by two teams, each with a maximum of eleven players; one must be the goalkeeper".
The question is - do we have a regular goalkeeper?

It's getting Stupid .This Keeper Question. Are we signing one No, the club have decided to play an outfield player in goal each week on a rotational basis. Of course we are going to sign/have probably already signed a keeper. Just wait for it to be announced. Nobody has any patience anymore!

The club is advertising tickets for Saturday's game. Would you buy tickets for the theatre if you didn't know the cast? Especially as it looks like the star has gone and we may have to settle for an under study.

I would be surprised if this has come as a shock to the board, I would imagine that Ramsgate has been sniffing around for a while. As for ‘understudy’ yes our next striker won’t be as good, but how do you replace the league’s best striker? When Saturday comes, and Deon Moore is up front, I won’t be disappointed.
