Maybe you shouldn't drink in the sunshine if you can't handle it. Unacceptable behaviour - threatening and attacking stewards etc.
Pathetic.

Would like to know what happened there...saw the steward take a tumble, but no one was ejected? Emotions were running high but I didn't like what I saw from them.

Clearly the Wealdstone team in the dugout knew that something had to be done so they sent someone over to calm their fans down - well done. Meanwhile the Wealdstone Directors (or at least people from Wealdstone sitting in the away Directors seats) just sat there pretending it wasn't happening.

When you persist with your idiotic policy of letting people drink on the terraces, this is what will sometimes happen. That is why most clubs don't allow it.

It's not normally a problem, Ian – and I'd guess many of those fans were well tanked up before they arrived at the Pan. I'd hate to see us change the general policy because of one bad experience.

100% agree Spur, but a line has to be drawn somewhere. Wealdstone have a big reputation (in fact, they caused mayhem at our place 10yrs ago) so to serve tanked up fans more booze to quaff on the terraces in glorious sunshine is asking for trouble IMHO.

i've got to say, ian has a point. i thought the thread from the fan asking for good pubs was a great thread. i thought the way david dealt with it was great. all in all, it looked like 40 or so decent fans were attending and with the weather and the birthday celebrations, a great non league day in store. i myself would have tried to get as many as possible into the bar as we need the money...but...as usual, the best intentions of the hosts are just wasted on yobs. dont blame the visiting club as they cant control the morons but in future, lets stop going on about drinking on the terraces. i dont say stop it...just dont advertise it. i love harvey's but unless their club sponsors...i dont know if they are... lets review the outside drinking..and if it's decided to continue it, lets beef up the stewards and be prepared to suspend it if required. three points...no sub goalie..three subs...there are more important worries than bufoons...and lets hope the referees report does not include the inability to deal with the disorder.

There's no way we should get rid of drinking at the pan. This is the first time I've ever seen any fan trouble at lewes. A few nutters shouldn't spoil it for the rest of us. Ours was never a penalty by the way. Cheers ref!

Why should we have to change our club because some Wealdstone fans can't take their drink? Maybe their club should be fined? Not really something I want but it comes to something when a drunk skinhead confronts a toddler. Being cross with the ref is not an excuse for this sort of behaviour. Shame, because they were here in numbers and for the most part supported their team very well. Some of them just need to grow up.

Because its a risk to public safety? That's like saying "why can't I drive around drunk, just because occasionally there might be an accident".
A more responsible attitude to alcohol is required.

By that logic drink should be banned everywhere because someone might get drunk and aggressive. leave your puritan bs in Worthing.

I don't think that drinking on the terraces at Lewes should be stopped or is it an idiotic policy. It's been a long time since any trouble happened at the Pan because of too much alcohol and if my memory serves me correctly, I can't ever remember any trouble being caused by Lewes supporters at the Pan because of to much alcohol. So why should those, whose "Home" it is, be deprived of a drink whilst watching their team?
Lewes supporters in my time following the club have always been pretty responsible and the current batch are exactly that. It's obvious some, and I mean some, of the visiting supporters couldn't handle their drink but that is no reason to stop both home supporters and responsible away supporters from having a drink and enjoying a decent game of football.

I agree. We have had bigger clubs than Wealdstone (with all due respect) at the Pan with no need for the Police to be called. The problems today are not the responsibility of Lewes FC, they are down to a few idiots who can't handle a few pints. The guy has been arrested and hope he is charged etc. I don't think the way Lewes fans enjoy a pint is in any way irresponsible, Ian.
