So, the worst kept secret confirmed. He's on his way. I'm sure we will look back on his tenure as a golden age for the club. I only started watching Lewes just before he arrived, and he was a breath of fresh air. A complete contrast to the style of his more pragmatic predecessors and soon had me hooked. The Pep or Jürgen of the Isthmian. Wingers, playing out from the back, goalkeepers who didn't simply boot it long and Joe Taylor. What wasn't to like? Tony also seemed to have the Midas touch when it came to resurrecting the careers of players who'd lost their way, or fallen out of love with the game. Who'd ever think a Lewes player would turn down Spurs? Tony does love a wide man. I suspect his next job will be running a rest home for knackered wingers. The past two seasons we've fallen just short. The dark art of defending doesn't really feature in his manual (70 conceded this season) and ultimately that's cost us play off spots. I'm not sure players at our level are good enough to play out from the back against a decent press but, hey, that's entertainment. It would be harsh to label his time at the club as anything other than a success...crowds nudging towards 1000 are surely a marker of that. Thanks Tony (and that's not a tear in my eye by the way). An impossible act to follow?

If you think this was a ‘golden age’ it’s a shame you weren’t around to enjoy the Steve King era. Mind you the Jimmy Quinn tenure gave us many happy memories too. If you were a fan in those days I am sure that you can’t really disagree.

I'd call it the average age! Top seven budget so probably achieving most likely league position possible. Still enjoyed the ride

Well the Jimmy Quinn era was 20 odd years ago and promotion to the Conference more than 15, so perhaps we might be allowed to enjoy some more recent football? (and if we're adjusting for budgets then King was presumably about par as well? Didn't make it any less enjoyable, I assume?).
Grateful to Tony, Joe and the team for the best football I've seen in a decade and a half at the Pan. A few sliding doors moments for sure and a sense of what could have been, but all in all it's been a fantastic ride. Hope the next manager can rock a pair of blacked out Copa Mundials and ice box with as much style.

Is there a statement anywhere as to WHY he's left? Usually the board or management themselves will say why End of contract decided to part . Different ideas etc.

Still enjoyed the ride Referring more to the style of football and entertainment than the results. When a Tony team is on song they are a joy to watch. The flip side, as I mentioned, is the apparent inability to stop the other team scoring. Would be interested to know how many clean sheets there have been over the past 3 seasons.

Sorry to be a pain but where are these statements? What did they say?

Tony must have been unhappy with a number of things for a while now to choose not to sign the two year contract last summer but then to come to his decision to leave before Christmas.
The key comments I took from his statement as reasons for leaving are: - This is about knowing when the time is right to move on. - Received varied levels of support. - Changing of directors / board room has had a significant impact on him. - It became clear that it was best for him to move on.

If you were a fan in those days I am sure that you can’t really disagree. A few years on from King leaving, his spell was viewed through the lens of the financial meltdown left behind. So I, for one, will wait a year or two before concluding how good or bad this spell has proved to be.

Let Tony's comments sink in and that's one damning sign-off note.

Having to rebuild the team each year. He has previously referenced Horsham as an example where Dom has been able to maintain a core of his squad each year. Possibly his budget makes that possible. Stability throughout the Club is clearly lacking from his perspective which made the job even more challenging. How and who is involved in decisions on his replacement will be critical. Hopefully the Board will seek guidance from Stuart who has considerable insight into non-league football and no doubt was instrumental in getting Tony and Joe into the Club in the first place.
