I suppose like most supporters I wasn't expecting Rooks to be in Europe. Hear all the time about the strains of running a semi pro club travel expenses time etc. I'd honestly never heard of a European adventure for anyone out of top clubs since the Anglo italian tournament in 72.

Fair enough and I take my hat off to all volunteers like you. Personally it just appears incongruous for a non league club. Obviously many enjoyed it so who am I to be critical. I look forward to the victory parade when I shall pretend I was it's greatest supporter. Participating in a non League tournament is "incongruous " for a non League club? No, but playing a series of international mid-season friendlies is.

I think the Anglo italian Cup was still going in the mid nighties. Pretty sure West Ham played in it, Stuart will know.

They aren't friendlies,it's a competitive tournament. And it's not that "incongruous" if teams like FC United of Manchester or Enfield are taking part. I know it's popular to be as miserable as possible on this forum, but something can be unusual and also good or even fun!

I have come to the conclusion that it was incongruous of me to use incongruous on a forum. I think I misspelt it as well

I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Oslo. The Olympic ski jump is rather high(!), relived "The Four Yorkshiremen" with a staff member in the 7-11 at the rail station, crunched through snow, most unusually for me - had a beer (£9.15 half-litre - but I expected that), stayed in a very small room but to be fair, it was described as a "mini-room", paid £24 for a taxi ride that I later found out was a 4 minute bus ride for free (Maybe there were bus lanes). Had a talk about football with one of the youngsters in the coffee/waffle hut, she explained she was the most important position in the girls' team "I'm the bench-warmer,I must be important because I'm that every week!". Oslo. The most expensive city in the Galaxy!

I love the gal's attitude. As fans,we forget about how important those players are to the team.

Sure was - went to Cremonese v West Ham in 1993 from memory and then a few weeks later saw 4 players sent off as we played Pisa at home

It’s not bait in the least, but to me these games are the equivalent of all those tournaments that the premiership clubs have at the start of the season in the US or Middle East. Just because they give you a trophy it doesn’t mean you’ve earned an open-top bus tour. The Sussex Senior Cup final at the Amex meant far more to me but I am not pissing on anyone’s chips here. People have had some excellent experiences, we are told it isn’t cash drawing so good luck to everyone and as Enfield have shown it’s certainly not the reason this season has been so disappointing As for them not being friendlies - it’s literally the F in Fenix.

Ok, but they're played in front of big and excited crowds at the Pan and sizeable groups of travelling fans having a ball.

Hey, every opinion is valid and I don’t begrudge the fun everyone has had at the games but personally I would swap every single moment including any future final for a point at cheshunt in a meaningful fixture. Absolutely I am sure they are fun…because that’s exactly what they are in my view.

And Cremonese played in pink and grey strips? 🤮
