That is a very good point. Is Ed Ramsden back in the seat as a stop-gap measure? For me, this is back to the point I made a while ago about how useful it would be to know more about which directors do what. I seem to recall I was 'fobbed off' with the usual 'you can come and talk to us on the terraces' line, rather than a clear explanation of who takes care of key things such as finance. It would be a relief if Ed was back involved and he would have the authority despite not being a director. Perhaps this is a weakness of fan ownership and why back in the day even “myfootballclub” didn’t actually select the team. You end up selecting favourites rather than the best team for the job. Lots of “media” people and barely a word about the financial cliff-edge we potentially face. Didn’t they once announce responsibilities for each director? Or am I imagining that

Any sign of the 2022/3 accounts? Per the club rules these should have been presented to owners by 30th Nov (ie within 6 months of the year end). Also there is no such thing as an Emergency General Meeting or an Extraordinary General Meeting. Since the Companies Act 2006, it is just a General Meeting.

Members/owners got an email on the 14th saying the audited accounts are being presented on the 28th at an emergency general meeting at 8pm, should be interesting...

Any sign of the 2022/3 accounts? A quick search on Companies House for Lewes 2000 F.C. Limited will show the financials up to 31 May 2023 - registered at Companies House on 15/Feb/2024. page 18 is of interest.

(has a look) - it's a mass of figures (obviously) but it looks to me that 2 donations of £600,000 have been made. Is that correct?

The profit across all 3 companies was £250,000. This would include the donations, so removing them would give a loss of around £500,000

It's not usual in the strange world of football finances for a club to be kept afloat by funding from very wealthy individuals who have an interest in the club. In fact I'd say it's probably the norm.
Whether it is in keeping with the founding principles of a club like Lewes is an entirely separate matter. I suspect views on this amongst supporters will be as divided as they were on the Mercury 13 proposal.

If the Directors decide to spend that much more than the Club's income, it's down to them to make up the difference. The much-heralded endowment (or whatever it was called) ain't going to last much longer at that rate.

£200k of the £600k Endowment (donation) was left at 31/5/23. Will have all been spent by now. So Eddie Ramsden’s generous donation to the club of £1.2m has all been spent in 3 seasons.

There are some notorious examples, but most clubs stagger along with volunteers, fund raising and prudence.
